Carmen Burlingame, LCSW, CGP

With a decade of experience in the social work field, I am dedicated to providing comprehensive individual, couple, and group psychotherapy. My practice is built on a foundation of compassionate understanding and a commitment to fostering meaningful growth.
I integrate a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including being EMDR-trained and IFS-informed, alongside psychodynamic and interpersonal approaches. My training in the Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy (PACT) further enhances my work, offering a robust framework rooted in interpersonal neurobiology and understanding attachment patterns. These integrated orientations deeply inform my practice with individuals, couples, and within group settings.
I find immense value in the dynamic nature of group therapy. While individual sessions allow us to “hear the story,” interpersonal process groups offer a unique opportunity to “watch it happen”. Through extensive training in group psychotherapy, I cultivate a setting where you can explore relational patterns in a supportive environment, practice new ways of interacting, and receive constructive feedback on the impact of your words and actions. It’s a powerful space for profound personal and interpersonal development, and I may recommend group therapy as part of our work together.
As a cisgender, heterosexual woman, I am committed to recognizing the inherent privileges associated with my identity. I actively work to leverage this understanding to help dismantle barriers faced by more marginalized communities. My professional and personal principles include being a dedicated ally to the LGBTQ+ community, continuously engaging in anti-racist practices, and advocating for fat liberation to empower individuals with greater freedom within their bodies.
My goal is to create a safe, collaborative space where you can explore challenges, cultivate resilience, and move towards a more authentic and fulfilling life.
